Il castello di Dracula
A symbol of resilience and mystery, nestled among the mountains and legends of the Carpathians.
The Poenari Fortress, situated in a strategic and spectacular position on the Argeล River Gorge, represents an important historical symbol of Romania. Also known as the "true Dracula's Castle," it was one of the main residences and defensive strongholds of Vlad III of Wallachia, better known as Vlad ศepeศ or "The Impaler," the figure who inspired the legend of Count Dracula. The son of Vlad II Dracul, Vlad III used the fortress as a strategic center during his fight against the Ottoman Turks and as a safe refuge due to its natural inaccessibility.
The fortress, built on a rocky spur, dominates the surrounding landscape with a breathtaking view of the gorges below and the entire region. This eagle's nest, of which only the ruins remain today, evokes the power of Romaniaโs medieval past, associated with the name of Vlad ศepeศ, known for his fierce resistance against the Ottoman invasion and his role in the history of Southeastern Europe. The site is a cultural and tourist attraction of great interest, not only for history lovers but also for those drawn to the legendary figure of Dracula.
We proudly participate in the renovation and consolidation works of the Poenari Fortress. The project aims to preserve and enhance the remains of this fascinating fortress, which represents a significant part of Romania's cultural heritage. We have worked on:
1. Structural Reinforcement: Strengthening the foundations and walls to prevent further collapses and degradation. The restoration work includes using special technologies to reinforce the more fragile areas, ensuring the site's safety.
2. Accessibility: Improving accessibility to the site while maintaining the historic and natural character of the place. This includes repairing the access paths and using eco-friendly materials that do not alter the terrain.
3. Historical Conservation: Preserving the existing structures, such as the remaining walls and towers, respecting the original architecture and using restoration techniques that maintain authenticity.
Currently, the work is nearly completed. We have finished most of the structural reinforcement interventions, particularly in the most critical areas, such as the northern walls and the main tower.
We are excited to announce that, thanks to the commitment and dedication of the entire team, the Poenari Fortress will soon reopen to the public. The site will not only offer a chance to visit the ruins but also an enriching cultural experience full of charm, where history blends with legend and connects the past with the present.
The project has been carried out with great respect for the authenticity of the site, combining tradition and innovation. Our participation in this restoration process is a source of great pride, as it allows us to contribute to the safeguarding of one of the most emblematic places in Romanian history, enabling visitors to rediscover a symbol of resilience and mystery, nestled among the mountains and legends of the Carpathians.
